About Brian Mickley

I am Brian Mickley and I’ve spent over four decades mastering office automation. Today I help small businesses become stronger, leaner, and more profitable by embracing automation, integration, and practical technology.
As the owner of multiple businesses — from laundromats to real estate — I understands the day-to-day pressures of running a small operation. We combine this hands-on business knowledge with deep technical expertise in workflow automation, data systems, and AI-driven tools.
Through the Mickley Office Automation and the Micro Office Automation and Brian Mickley Automation web pages, we teach small businesses how to streamline processes, cut manual work, and create operations that practically run themselves. The approach is direct: map the problem, choose the right tool, and build simple systems that deliver results.

Enterprise software management is very involved with lots of team members. Small business development, just like small business ownership, demands I wear many hats. Here is a partial list of the skillsets required of someone who does what I do:
- Project Manager – Runs the project plan, scope, and timeline.
- Product Manager – Defines what gets built and why.
- Technical Lead – Sets technical direction and mentors developers.
- Software Engineer / Developer – Codes and maintains the application.
- Full-Stack Developer – Works across frontend and backend.
- Frontend Engineer – Focuses on user interfaces.
- Backend Engineer – Focuses on server-side logic and APIs.
- DevOps Engineer – Handles deployment, automation, and infrastructure.
- QA Engineer – Tests and validates software quality.
- UX/UI Designer – Designs user flow and interface.
- Business Analyst – Translates business needs into requirements.
- Solutions Architect – Designs system architecture at a high level.
Each of these is a profession unto itself. I won’t claim to be an expert in all, but knowledge and skills across this spectrum ensure your project’s success.
Whether it’s customer onboarding, dispatch operations, or financial workflows, we teach ways to focus on outcomes: saving time, reducing errors, and giving business owners freedom to focus on growth instead of paperwork.
Mission
To empower small businesses with automation, integration, and AI so they can operate more efficiently, cut manual work, and grow without adding complexity. My mission is simple: teach business owners how to build processes & systems that run smoothly, so they can focus on serving customers and creating value.
Experience
I bring over 40 years of real-world office computing expertise, 20 years of business ownership and tremendous wealth of operations experience. From fast-paced military operations to laundromats and real estate as well as consulting and dispatch logistics, I have built, managed, and streamlined diverse businesses. During these decades, I have developed deep technical expertise in:
- Workflow automation with platforms like Make.com and Zapier, Pipedream and N8N
- Data management using Excel and Google Sheets, MS Access, MySQL, Airtable and more
- Voice, SMS, and telephony solutions using Twilio and similar SaaS application
- Financial integration with QuickBooks Online and Stripe
- AI-driven process improvements using OpenAI, Claude, and Gemini
This mix of hands-on business ownership and technical mastery uniquely position me to guide small business owners away from pen and paper, phone tag centered processes toward digital-first, integrated and highly efficient business management.
